Beyond the DayAt the initiative of Werner Diehl, the „Irmgard-Diehl Children‘s Foundation" was established in memory of our Shareholders‘ mother who died in 1965. The foundation‘s purpose, whose assets currently amount to one million euros, is to help and support abused, traumatized and socially impaired children and youths - the weakest members of society - from Upper Franconia, Middle Franconia and Swabia. Support is provided for medical and therapeutic treatment, especially therapies involving horses, dogs, dolphins and music. Furthermore, the Foundation provides the two Children‘s Village families of the „Albert-Schweitzer Children‘s Fund" in Rückersdorf with valuable facilities located in a fascinating landscape. The two remedial-education institutions at Rückersdorf are a joint commitment of Werner Diehl and the „Albert-Schweitzer Children‘s Fund" which cares for children from problem families, enabling them to have a happy childhood within a family-like environment. Last autumn, Nürnberg‘s „Old-Town Friends" and the „Pellerhof Friends" announced the official start of the reconstruction of Nürnberg‘s famous Renaissance jewel. About one million euros have been collected for this large project until now. Half of this amount is accounted for by a donation Karl Diehl had promised the Old-Town Friends on the occasion of his 100th birthday. Without this generous support by Karl Diehl, as speakers emphasized in their addresses, it would certainly not have been possible to start work so quickly. The „Karl-Diehl Foundation for People in Need" founded by Karl Diehl in 1987 helps individual persons in Nürnberg and vicinity in emergency situations – regardless of their nationality or religion. In 2008, this kind of aid was granted to approx. 650 people, who did not have any claim to public benefits, in close coordination with other relief organizations engaged in the region. Diehl‘s social and cultural activities largely aim at providing support in concrete individual cases or at establishing a long-term joint commitment together with an experienced partner. And we also give our employees an opportunity to take part in these activities according to their own possibilities. In this way, we want to ensure that our social commitment as part of our company culture continues to be widely accepted. |
